We are delighted to announce we will be partnering with Plymouth U3A to bring a new activity to members of The Plymouth Athenaeum.
An Astronomy Group will be run in partnership with Plymouth U3A, and the joint group will meet for the first time on Monday, July 8 (2-4pm) in the Lecture Room at The Athenaeum.
The theme of the first joint session is ‘The Solar System’. No previous knowledge is necessary – just an interest in anything to do with space.
This session will take a look at the individual planets and try to get an idea of their sizes in relation to the Earth and the Sun, then their distances from the Sun and each other.
It is expected illustrations will be provided with the aid of objects, pictures and diagrams. Handout sheets will be available.
During the session there will be time for a refreshment break and discussion. Admission is free to Athenaeum members.
