Plymouth Athenaeum and City College Plymouth form new partnership

We are delighted to announce we are forming an exciting new learning partnership with one of the city’s leading education providers, City College Plymouth.

The partnership will allow the Athenaeum to engage with new and diverse audiences as we continue our 209-year mission to provide learning opportunities in science, technology, literature and art.

The collaborative project will see some of the Athenaeum’s activities and events take place at City College’s Kings Road campus.

It will allow the Society to utilise the College’s brand new facilities, and access the latest learning technologies, to create a vibrant programme of cultural, artistic and scientific activities and events with City College for Athenaeum members, college staff and students and the local community.

One of the highlights of the joint events at City College will be a talk by Emma Darwin on Thursday, 10th March 2022.

Emma is an author of historical fiction, creative non-fiction, novels and short stories, teacher and mentor of creative writing. She is also is the great-great-granddaughter of evolutionary theorist Charles Darwin, who was a member of the Plymouth Athenaeum in the mid-1800s.

More details about the forthcoming 2021/22 lecture programme will be announced shortly.
