Lovers of literature and the written word can look forward to a nine-day feast of events across the city from Saturday, 21st October to Sunday, 29th October.
PlymLit17, which is supported by award-winning housebuilder Redrow, will be taken to venues across the city, including the Plymouth School of Creative Arts, Ocean Studios and the Devonport Guildhall.
The Athenaeum will be home to 17 of the events, the majority of which are completely free to attend.
“We are delighted that The Athenaeum will once again be playing such a prominent role in the Plymouth Literature Festival,” said Owen Ryles, PlymLit17 chairman.
“There will be something for everyone who loves the written word at The Athenaeum during PlymLit17.”
The programme of events at The Athenaeum features writing competitions, such as the £100 first-prize Flash Fiction Slam, workshops and panels, including the Journalism and PR Panel featuring Sam Blackledge, famed for his ‘Three minutes of nothing’ encounter with PM Theresa May during this year’s general election.
There will also be author talks, including popular Plymouth chronicler Chris Robinson and Plymouth Argyle manager Derek Adams.
Former BBC Spotlight presenter, Teresa Driscoll, will be talking about her international bestselling psychological debut I Am Watching You and sharing tips and advice on getting published.
