The stage is 8.41m. deep and a proscenium opening width of 7.44m. The wings are each 3.52m. wide. The height to the proscenium arch is 4.27m.
The forestage is 7.44m wide and 2.31m. deep. It can be lowered to auditorium floor level, or below to form an orchestra pit.
There is a revolve, diameter 6.10m.
There are the usual bars for lights and backcloths.
The height to the fixed grid is 8.15m. Flats cannot be flown, but cloths may.
A tunnel under the stage gives access from one side to other, and to the orchestra pit.
The stage is of maple, and screws ARE NOT to be put into it.

Sound and lighting are controlled from a box at the rear of the stalls. The installed sound and lighting system is adequate for all but the most elaborate productions.
There is a loop system for hearing aids.

 Dressing rooms. There is accomodation for up to 50 people in two larger and three smaller dressing rooms.

 Staffing. Hirers provide their own staff for all stage work, include sound and lighting.
They must also provide auditorium attendants and a Front of House Manager.

 A Theatre Manager and a Safety Officer are provided by the Athenaeum when the public are in the building and to generally help during the hiring period.

 Large Billboards. There are two at the front of the building, each hirer usually has the use of one for two weeks.

 Audience facilities. The large comfortable lounge is usually available for use by audiences for at least 30 minutes before each performance, and during the interval. It is not available after nor between performances.
Tea/coffee/soft drinks/ice cream/confectionary are sold.
