On the first Thursday evening each May to commemorate the opening of the Athenaeum building in 1819. This, with its museum, library and lecture hall was destroyed in the 1941 blitz. The present building is on the same, albeit smaller, site.
A conversazione, usually an evening in September, to launch the new programme.

The theatre. We do not promote productions; we do hire the theatre to amateur and professional companies. Members staff the tea/coffee and ice-cream/sweets kiosks. Suitably trained members (Duty House managers) are in charge of the building during performances.
